Message Notes:

Matthew 5:10

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven...

1. Expect It

2 Timothy 3:12

“Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.”

John 15:18-20

“If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of this world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.

2. Endure It

1 Corinthians 4:12

When we are cursed we bless; when we are persecuted we endure it...

“When your identity in Christ is strong, peer pressure is weak. When your identity in Christ is weak, peer pressure is strong.”

3. Embrace It

1 Peter 4:12-13, 16

“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ........v16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

Matthew 5:12

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven.
